Step 1: Cut the Potatoes
- Peel potatoes (optional).
- Cut into even sticks for even cooking.
Step 2: Soak (Very Important)
- Place cut potatoes in cold water.
- Soak for 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours).
- Drain and pat completely dry with a towel.
👉 This removes starch and makes fries crispy.
Step 3: First Fry (Cook Inside)
- Heat oil to 300°F (150°C).
- Fry potatoes in batches for 4–5 minutes.
- Remove when soft but not colored.
- Drain and let rest 10 minutes.
Step 4: Second Fry (Crispy Outside)
- Heat oil to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry potatoes again for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove and drain.
Step 5: Season & Serve
- Sprinkle with salt immediately.
- Add optional seasonings while hot.
- Serve right away.
Oven Method (Healthier)
- Toss potato sticks with oil and salt.
- Spread on a baking tray.
- Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway.
Air Fryer Method
- Toss potatoes with 1–2 tbsp oil.
- Air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 15–20 minutes, shaking halfway.
