Perfect Crispy French Fries

Step 1: Cut the Potatoes

  1. Peel potatoes (optional).
  2. Cut into even sticks for even cooking.

Step 2: Soak (Very Important)

  1. Place cut potatoes in cold water.
  2. Soak for 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours).
  3. Drain and pat completely dry with a towel.

👉 This removes starch and makes fries crispy.

Step 3: First Fry (Cook Inside)

  1. Heat oil to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Fry potatoes in batches for 4–5 minutes.
  3. Remove when soft but not colored.
  4. Drain and let rest 10 minutes.

Step 4: Second Fry (Crispy Outside)

  1. Heat oil to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Fry potatoes again for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Remove and drain.

Step 5: Season & Serve

  • Sprinkle with salt immediately.
  • Add optional seasonings while hot.
  • Serve right away.

Oven Method (Healthier)

  1. Toss potato sticks with oil and salt.
  2. Spread on a baking tray.
  3. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway.

Air Fryer Method

  1. Toss potatoes with 1–2 tbsp oil.
  2. Air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 15–20 minutes, shaking halfway.

✔ Dry potatoes well
✔ Don’t overcrowd the pan
✔ Salt while hot
