Step 1: Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
- Let rest 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add egg, melted butter, and salt.
- Gradually add flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Step 2: First Rise
- Place dough in a greased bowl.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours, until doubled.
Step 3: Prepare the Filling
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Set aside.
Step 4: Shape the Bread
- Punch down the dough.
- Roll into a rectangle (about 9×14 inches).
- Spread softened butter over the dough.
- Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar evenly on top.
- Roll tightly into a log.
- Place in a greased loaf pan.
Step 5: Second Rise
- Cover and let rise 30 minutes.
Step 6: Bake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until golden brown.
- If browning too fast, cover loosely with foil.
Step 7: Finish
- Brush hot bread with melted butter.
- Sprinkle optional cinnamon sugar on top.
- Cool before slicing.
